Fall 2010

When did it become fall again? The days are getting shorter. Doug told me this morning that Standard time doesn't start until November . Thank God. It is dark enough by 7:00 now.

Summer slipped by a little too quickly for me. Of course it didn't really start until after July 4th anyway. I love being able to come home after work and go out into the garden. There is always something to do there but it is fun. Especially when Finn is running around trying to get me to throw his tennis ball and the cat is hiding behind bushes and jumping out at me.

What else did I do this summer?
I read some books (always). The Nine is about the Supreme court from the 60's till now and really interesting. It is amazing how much power they have and the opportunity to shape Americas future. Do we influence them or do they influence us?

Had two wonderful trips to Montana. One with everyone - very hectic but fun and one with just us and the kids. That was really special and I hope to do it again soon.

Bought a beautiful new boat and now have to sell the old one. What a difference 20 years makes in boats. The old boat didn't sell this summer so will winter it at Jacks and try again in the Spring.

To be continued...

I have been lurking in my friend Betsy's online life for sometime now. I don't mean in a creepy way. We went to college together and it is fun top see how our lives bend and turn. Two week ago I took a starter class for encaustic wax and feel in love. Today I read my friends blog and discovered she too is embracing "the way of the wax". I envy her for always keeping art in her life. I have recently been trying to make it more important in my life. This last 6 months has been a lot of fun - even though some of my supplies are dried up or to old to use. Some of the funnest things, besides working with hot wax have been exploring using fabrics for things other than quilts. My friend Karen and I spent an afternoon drinking wine and creating fabric atc cards. I can't wait to do more.

Whoot! Got a Job.

I start next Monday on my new job. I am very excited and a little scared to be going to such a small company but there are so many upsides to it. I will hopefully get to do a little of everything. I also love that it is sooooo close to my home. I can come home at lunch to play with Finn.

The day the tree came down

Today I had the tree guys take down two trees in my backyard. They are amazing and not afraid of heights. I can not believe how much more sky I can see. This will help a lot in the upcoming winter. I can see a lot more of the water too. The only bad thing is what my plants look like. The ones under the tree are going to have to grow a lot next spring. I will keep my fingers crossed.
